The area is known for its rugged, technical singletrack, with steep climbs, rocky descents, and rooty sections. DuPont State Forest, also nearby, provides a mix of smoother and more technical trails.

  • Pisgah National Forest (general): This area is legendary for its rugged, technical, and demanding trails. It's a true backcountry experience. Key trails/areas include:
    • Black Mountain Trail: A classic Pisgah descent, known for being long, technical, and challenging.
    • Avery Creek Trail: Often ridden as a descent, featuring rocks, roots, and creek crossings.
    • Bennett Gap: Known for its technical features and incredible views (often very challenging).
    • Thrift Cove / Lower Black Mountain: Popular descents that can be combined for epic rides.
